2008 AZ Legislative Session

The most pressing issue this 2008 session is how our state addresses the budget deficit. AzDAC supports the position of Governor Napolitano and the Protecting Arizona Families Coalition (PAFCO) that there are ways to balance the budget without eliminating funding for health and human service programs that support Arizona’s children and most vulnerable, including people with disabilities.

2008 Issues AzDAC Supports

• Durable Medical Equipment Report from AHCCCS – HB 2503 (link)
• Durable Medical Equipment Provider Licensure – HB 2504 (link)
• Procurement Exemption for the AZ Industries for the Blind – HB 2391
• Ongoing budgetary support for all current AHCCCS disability programs including:
  • The AHCCCS Freedom to Work health care coverage
  • The ALTCS Dental benefit
  • The Temporary Medical Coverage for SSDI beneficiaries waiting for Medicare

Equalizing the Telecommunications Tax – AzDAC supports the need for a telecommunications tax on wireless equal to the current tax on land lines in order to support telecommunication assistance to the people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech impairments.
